The Forgotten Ones

I’ve forgotten their names; both of them. I think I may even have forgotten their faces. One was pale and one was dark, I think. Most times they meld together in my thoughts and become one mottled, wrinkled, smooth, perfectly formed, imperfect, dead, faceless beings. I’ve forgotten their names and their faces but somehow I haven’t forgotten how my belly rounded, like a perfectly smooth watermelon; my skin brown and taut. Taking Time Out for Self-Care

Deadlines to meet, the fallacy yet over-prevalence of multi-tasking, putting our children’s needs before our own, putting our spouse’s needs before our own, putting our boss’ needs before our own, wearing that superman/woman cape for way too long (it can weigh you down!). It’s no wonder we suffer from burn out from time to time. Well I’m here to tell you that you can and should take that cape off, fold it neatly and put it away for a while....
